01Agreement

These Terms govern your use of the Shield Date website and service. By submitting a search request or paying for a search, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

02What the service is

Shield Date carries out a manual search for mentions of you on the platforms described on our website. These are publicly available apps and Facebook groups.

We deliver a report recording what we found. It may include screenshots and screen recordings of the search and of any material that appears to refer to you.

The report is provided for your own information. It is a record of what we observed at the time we searched — not a verified account of events, and not a judgement about anyone.

03Who may use it

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract.

You may only request a search about yourself. You may not use Shield Date to search for another person, whether or not you know them, and whether or not you have their permission. If we believe a request is about someone other than the person making it, we will refuse it and may refund and terminate without further explanation.

04How you may use the report

You may keep the report, read it, and use it to inform your own decisions. You may show it to your own lawyer.

You may not:

• Publish it, post it online, or circulate it
• Use it to identify, locate, contact, confront, threaten or harass anyone named or shown in it
• Use it to retaliate against anyone, in any form
• Use it to make decisions about another person's employment, housing, credit, insurance or safety
• Represent it as a background check, a legal finding, or an official record of any kind

These restrictions are a condition of purchase. Breaching them may terminate your rights under these Terms and may expose you to liability to third parties that we are not party to and take no responsibility for.

05Not a consumer report

Shield Date is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq., and nothing we provide is a consumer report or an investigative consumer report.

You may not use Shield Date or anything obtained from it for any purpose covered by the FCRA, including assessing anyone for employment, credit, insurance, housing, or a government licence or benefit.

06What we do not do

• We do not remove content. We do not contact the people who posted, approach moderators, or attempt takedowns on your behalf. Your report includes a written summary of the reporting and removal routes the Tea App and Facebook themselves offer, but carrying out those steps is yours to do, and no route is guaranteed to succeed.
• We do not verify what was said. We report that something exists. Whether it is true is outside what we can determine.
• We do not guarantee completeness. Posts are deleted, edited and made private; some do not use names at all; and our search covers the area described on our site, not everywhere.
• We do not provide legal advice. The removal guidance in your report is general information about what each platform allows, not advice about your situation. If you need advice, instruct a lawyer.

07Accuracy

We search carefully and by hand, and we document where we looked. We cannot guarantee that every relevant post will be found, or that everything we surface genuinely refers to you rather than to someone with a similar name or appearance.

A report finding nothing is not proof that nothing exists. It is a record that we searched the stated scope and did not find a match.

The service and every report are provided "as is". You should not treat a report as the sole basis for any significant decision.

08Price, payment and delivery

A One-Time Scan costs $49, charged once. There is no subscription and no recurring charge. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never receive your card details.

We aim to deliver most reports within four hours and undertake to deliver within 24 hours of a completed request. Delivery is by email to the address you provide, so please make sure it is correct — we delete your details as soon as your report is delivered.

09Refunds

Late delivery — full refund. If we do not deliver your report within 24 hours of a completed request, you receive the full $49 back. Contact us and we will process it.

Incomplete search — $20 back, automatically. Access to the "Are We Dating the Same Guy" Facebook groups varies by region, and there are areas we cannot reach. Where that applies to yours, we carry out the Tea App search on its own, state plainly in your report which part we could not perform, and refund $20 without you having to ask for it.

A result of "nothing found" is not a refund case. Establishing that you are not posted about takes the same work as finding that you are, and the confirmation is the outcome most customers are paying for. A clean report is a completed service, not a failed one.

Outside the two cases above, we do not refund completed searches — but please come to us before raising a dispute with your card issuer, as we can almost always resolve it faster directly.

10Your content

Anything you upload — including a photograph of yourself — remains yours. You give us permission to process it for the sole purpose of carrying out your search, and that permission ends when we delete it, as soon as your report is delivered.

You confirm that any photograph you upload is of you, and that you have the right to provide it.

11No affiliation

Shield Date is independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to the Tea App, Meta Platforms, Facebook, any "Are We Dating the Same Guy" group or its moderators, or any other platform or service referred to on our website. All names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe where we search.

12Suspension and termination

We may decline or cancel any request, and may withdraw the service from anyone, where we believe these Terms have been breached — in particular the requirement to search only for yourself. Where we cancel before doing the work, we refund in full.

13Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shield Date and its owners and operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or damage to reputation or relationships, arising from your use of the service or from anything contained in a report.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the search giving rise to it.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

14Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Shield Date and its owners and operators against any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, or from how you use a report — in particular any use prohibited by section 04.

15Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Shield Date is established, without regard to conflict of law rules. The courts of that state have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Shield Date.

16Changes

We reserve the right to change these Terms, and the service they describe, at any time. The current version will always be posted here with the date at the top. Changes apply to purchases made after they are posted, not retroactively.
